[suggestion] non wandering champions

what about it?

this comes from the problems at start wihen champions moves a lot and often you cant catch them to hire them

also i suspect they can die now that there are many monsters around

what if we keep them at inns?

so when we have the right amount of money we can go there and just hire there

this also would make some sort of "battle" like wonders in colonization/civ for who get first some good champion etc, sound exciting to me

also maybe it could be possible to have access just to the champions based on your adventure research, so you go in a certain inn and see what is avaiable based on your research, or even get any ch ampion in a different location, but these are just complications maybe

I kinda like the way champions wander and actually do things in the world. However, I do agree that it can be a pain to ketch them or keep them alive. Also, perhaps the Inn should attract them to rest inside for a while and generate some Gildar per turn.

Things I'd like to see Champions do:

  • Champions should be replenished when killed (create a new one).
  • Champions should sometimes "rest" or "camp" (or just fortify) in the wilderness so they are easier to ketch.
  • Champions should visit your cities, rest inside inns, and shop at your merchants and markets.
  • Champions should go on their own quests, fight animals, and stop bandits if it's their agenda.
  • We should be able to encourage Champions with customized quests or something (ie. protect traders, hunt animals, stop bandits, guard locations) for a small gold cost, perhaps like in Majesty (I've never played it).
  • Eventually they could get married, start families, have small houses/towns, or become mini-factions/Kingdoms.

I like seeing life in the wilderness outside of wolves, bandits, and those goblin dudes.

Also, I tend not to chase them down for the reasons you guys stated. I have another companion go do it for me ;) I call it "delegation"!

some or all of these could be lots of fun! however should add;

* Champions should avoid obviously out classing stacks of enemies including play characters..

I dont know twohawks- with fantasy i LIKE to have epic heroes.

1) my caster sovereign /high level hero spellcaster SHOULD be able to devestate armies

2) my warrior champion (at high levels) should be an epic warrior, able to defeat a couple of companies in battle. and hopefully be attached to units/etc

Should 1 hero overwealm an entire end game army? No (unless its teh sovereign).  But epic heroes should well be....epic and legendary.  NOT realistic.

I'm thinking of something Arthurian; or like the Fall From Heaven 2 Brigid; the hero trapped in the circle of flame.

A non-travelling champion where you have to defeat in solo combat, fight an epic battle, or overcome a deadly obstacle in order to recruit.

Or like the myth of the Sleepers; the Knights sleeping beneath the earth waiting for the day when they are called to defend the realm.  That would make a great quest.....
