Is it just me or is the AI really touchy this build. I keep having problems trying to hire anyone. I have the gold but it seems within the first few turns all the Hero units are already claimed that wander by my kingdom. I also have an issue if I am not careful my Soverign seems to like to murder them when trying to hire them. In several of my games I havent gotten past 20 rounds before everyone has declared war on me for no reason. The other problem I have is exploring. Everytime I leave my cities with just guard units and no Soverign or Hero there I get the oh your city looks ripe for the taking message. So I sprint back to my city and it traps most of Soverigns time there and since I cant seem to find a hero unit I get no to little exploring done. Is it just me being to conservative or do others see this as well

You can just build a farmer to defend your city, noone will ever take it in this build.

Really I had my city taken twice so far. One time I had a sizeable force there and after 3 or 4 waves of heroes leading troops against it I was out of mana and lost it, the other time that pops to mind was one of those approx 20 turn games where everyone declared war on me for no reason and wiped me out.
