Single player mode

Hi,  I have been trying to find out a little more about the single player mode of this very promising game.  Obviously there are campaign and multiplayer modes, but can you play this as a single player "sandbox" type of game?

Being an "old fogey" I prefer single player skirmish games reminiscant of the original C&C and Supreme Commander, not their latest incarnations (C&C4 or Supreme Com2) which seem to be made for quick fix short attention span generation.  The fact that your sovereign can have children who in turn can marry etc makes it seem as this game has an almost infinite timeline, but your description has me a little confused as it states the single player has 30 hours of gameplay.

Actually it will have single player with adjustable options not to worry.

 

Also i understand where your coming from i hate the newer games like cnc4 but luckily this game is one that like the old days we can play for days even weeks saving loading etc. at a slower pace level and having a good challenge.
