Graphics Card Concerns

I currently have a pentium IV with 1 GB memory...my issue that concerns me is I have a GeForce 6600GT 256mb graphics card. The beta's run very ragged on my system, and yes I know that beta's are always a bit choppy. I wonder if the final release will run smooth with some of the options turned down or off. Any help would be appreciated !

And because this game really has me excited I have to thank all involved for what looks to be a fantastic turn-based game !

Noobdy really knows yet, but we expect that it will.

Personally I wouldn't expect massive changes from the 3c beta to the RTM build in terms of performance.  There will be some changes obviously and if there is one root issue causing performance to be slow for you then it is possible it will be found and fixed prior to RTM.

I don't know the min spec offhand for elemental, but I would have thought your system is probably near the bottom end of the range, so turning options off would be expected.

Does it run ok if you run in cloth map mode?

This concerns me greatly because I get immense slowdown when outside the cloth map as well, especially with larger cities on the map.

AMD 640 Black edition quad core 3.0ghz

8gb 800mhz ddr 2 OCZ Reaper ram

4870x2 HD 2gb

Audigy Xtreme Gamer

Vista 64bit

I'm nowhere near the bottom of the range and the game runs very poorly once the map gets a bit crowded. Cloth mode and tactical battles run flawlessly of course.

I saw a comment by one of the designers that the beta 4 will run much smoother so I know you will be ok.....also the cloth map is rough on mine too !

It's because you are running that crappy AMD model instead of the KING I7 INTEL model. ;) like me. Plus that old ram you are using DDR2? hahaha Get with the time brah DDR3 is the ram of choice today. I have 6gb of it and my system is still faster than yours and I have no issues with the game chugging along with 10's of large cities on the map. I am also running Vista 64bit so at least you got it right there. haha

for systems with lower end configurations I am not surprised that you may get issues wjem in 3d mode.. however i imagine when all the debugging code is removed it will smooth out some as well..

Yes I have, this game should not be a graphical strain on a 4870x2 even at 1920x1080 with everything on high. Nothing else I've ever played has had issues like this. So yea, it concerns me to hear the engine isn't going to be further optimized enough to see performance increases between this beta version and the final. I'm going to fiddle around with the drivers and see if different versions offer better performance though, that could be part of it.

Yeah, I am having extreme slowdowns occasionally as well, and I am also playing with maxed out settings. [I have a factory OCed GTX260 -> ~GTX270 performance & E8400 -> 3Ghz, not OCed]

Yea you shouldn't be having any issues with it either. You're on the NVIDIA side of the fence too so it doesnt seem to be a manufacturer specific problem or bad drivers for one side at least. I assumed that the beta would be further optimized before the actual release because while I like the graphic style of elemental I can't really say they're bleeding edge or anything.

Yeah, this is not a driver issue. Either way, you've probably seen this topic: https://forums.elementalgame.com/389038 -> According to Froggie: Performance will be massively better in the next beta.

Btw, maybe these slowdowns are related to memory leaks? I don't know too much about these things...:X
