Is Warband Standalone?

Is Mount and Blade a Standalone demi-sequel to Mount and Blade ... or does it requires Mount and Blade also installed to play properly?

The way it seems, the original Mount and Blade shouldn't even be sold.

It really is just a patch of Mount & Blade.  The graphics are supposed to be better, but I don't see a huge difference.  The localization of different parts of the kingdom does seem much better.  You're supposed to have larger battles, but I haven't seen that yet--don't have a big enough army.  If you're going to buy the game, though, you should definitely go for this version.  I'm going to put up the cash for it.  $30 for such a huge, time-absorbing, game, and with multiplayer--it's really a great bargain.
