Shields and Duel Wielding

Will shields / duel wielding be implemented into the game?

They would make selecting weapons to use more tactical, for example (not including armor

  

1h weapon + shield = least amount of damage / most amount of defense

Duel wielding = moderate damage / moderate defense

2h weapon = most amount of damage / least amount of defense

Not sure about duel wielding and the Action point system  but, would like to have archers able to have a second weapon and be able to change weapons during tactical combat.

Would be abit better then current system. and allow interesting wields and soldiers with duel weapons would be interesting.

Brad mentioned that he wanted to do dual-wielding at some point but he never said if it will be version 1.0 or something down the road.

Yes, and after the implement "duel" weapons, maybe even "dual" ones  :)

Making a sword that can be wielded in the off-hand is easy. It should even be possible in-game without coding. Adding animations for it however...

I've never seen a fantasy game where this was not requested, so it might not be a bad idea to do it. How about throwing in 50% of the damage from a second weapon AND heavily increasing the Str. requirements. That means most characters could only wield a dagger, adding maybe 2 or 3 to the attack.

And I would not mind seeing archers (and everyone else) being able to have a second weapon to switch to.
