[0.9] [Suggestion] Let horses be different to wargs

If you have a wild horses ressouce and you build the stable you get horses. In the build menu you can now decide if this horses are brown horses, black horses or some kind of wargs. I don't like this! That's far too abstract. If you want wargs there should be a warg ressource. And for the "feeling" I don't think that wargs should have the same stats as horses. They should add to attack but perhaps not so much to movement or there should be the chance that they have their own mind on the battel field and move on there own sometimes.

I agree. Wargs != Horses. Also, there should be 'grades' of cavalry so that a high Civilisation technology or Warfare technology unlocks (for example) War Horse or Battle Wargs. Or something.

Maybe if you think of the resource as trainers it will work better. Neither horses nor wargs are like minerals, to be mined at a particular spot. They are animals that can be bred and trained in many places with the right resources, and the riders also need to be trained. So the spots on the map simply represent the availability of cavalry, not the spot where it pops out of the ground.

That's too abstract for me. I would prefer different ressources/herdes of "real" animals.

Wargs and horses should be different if only one is a horse and the other is sort of a wolvish sort of creature.

I like the idea of different kinds of horse/warg denoting their strength/stamina/etc. which would impact the quality of the cavalry units created with them.

That said, it's still an abstract representation like everything else on the map. I mean a herd of "real" animals should move around, migrate (especially in this world where natural prey/food is probably rare). Heck you don't even have to feed them! I had to feed my dog - much less if I wanted 100 of them to breed! :)

This whole game is about abstract, that's why there aren't 16 different kinds of wood and 20 different metals to worry about.

Even in the abstract horses are quite a bit different from giant, ravenous wolves.

Agree. Different beasts.

Perhaps the resource could change depending on who owns the land. If Trogs own the land the resource is Wargs etc.

Yes, I was surprised to see them be the same.  Maybe horses are a little faster and wargs are a little better in combat.  Doesn't have to be anything drastic.  Also it would be nice to see some variation in mount choices for factions or empires.  Still need more faction differences.

Yes. There could be attributes in the faction's designer, something like:

- horse man  (may use horse ressource)  cost: 1 point

- warg man (may use warg ressource) cost 2 point

- master horse man (may use horse ressource, may train mighty battle horses) cost 4 point

- master warg man (may use warg ressource, may train infamous wargs of xxx) cost 4 point

What about difrent type of horses or wargs for kingdom and imprium? Evil horse and warg pup or somthing. Evil horse with spikes and mutations effects from it raiders, and worg . . . peacful beast used to battle not to ride (we are not barbarians)

Playing as Ythril, in the late patch today [0.92?], I couldn't build riders even though I had the Warg resource hooked up.  Because, in the unit designer, both "Horse" and "Warg" equipment actually required the Horse resource.
