[bug/graphics]Tactical combat shows only white screen w/ UI overlay

Hi all,

Second bug with tactical combat . . . I've tried about 8 tactical combats so far and only one has actually displayed anything other than a white field and the combat UI.  Cursor changes so I can see the 'move to' cursor when I drag over certain areas, but no terrain or characters are visible, only white 'nothingness'.

DXDIAG output is here:

Also, display drops to about 1 fps and remains that way after leaving tactical combat (the only way to leave tactical combat is to select autoresolve from the UI).  This bug is referred to in a seperate thread here:

Let me know if I can provide any further details.  This does not output a debug.err file.

same issue, but much less common for me, tactical combat started but with a white screen and UI overlay, I played through the combat by looking for the cursor to change symbols. After a bit of blind fighting all text dissapeared from the UI. after the battle ended, all text was missing from every other screen as well. With some luck I navigated out to the quit screen, quit, and then crashed.

Crash dump is here:

Also, the battle was from the L2 quest to chase some darklings out of a workshop.

Hi, just letting you know that I'm still experiencing this problem in Beta 4.  It seems to be a lot less frequent, but it is still occurring once in a while.  Also, when this happens my game framerate still drops to 1 fps and I have to exit the game and restart it to fix the problem.  Please let me know if I can post any details that would help you to track this down.

Same here. Not always, but pretty regularly.

Yes, happening to me too; I'd say maybe once every six to eight battles or so.  Needless to say, I save before each battle.  ^_^

I have noticed that it happens less frequently with shadows turned off in video settings, though it does still happen.  Also, I at least have found that Alt-Tabbing to the desktop and then back to the game will get rid of the fog for the battle so it can be fought properly, however I then run into lag problems immediately or soon after and need to save, exit, and restart the game.
