Elemental : War of Magic Traslation

Hi all! [ I hope if it's the correct forum ] I recently discovered this nice game. I think the concept and gameplay is very very interesting. I've loved both GalCiv and Sins of a Solar Empire ( for SoSE I've update the traslation of the patch ) and the next pass is to preorder the game :D ( collector's obviously :) ) . I made this post to ask if the game will be translated in other language. I've no problem with english language but... well if we can play a game with our language is better no? ;)

bye!

Well... Stardock is a US based company. Besides, I would rather them work on the game getting better, then translation. That can come later.

Translation will be possible to pull off, but will probably require loads of work since it would mean replacing all english text inside the xml files.

I'm certain dedicated modders will create their own translations and release them.

I could maybe eventually make a french(quebec) translation if there is not too much text to translate. Or I could only translate the important stuff like the interface, commands, unit names.

What get's touchy are the events, quests, etc. Since each of these are unique and modders are going to add their own stuff, it is very hard to change the text of all these elements.

So if the XML files are very well constructed, yes there could be some translation. But don't expect to have an 100% translated game. And don't consider every mods to be translated.

As posted some time ago, if E:WoM would support a language file as it is common in alot of webtoolkits (i.e. seperated from the other files), it should be more easily doable :-) I would be available for a german translation :-)

This probably isn't the best example, but here's a tutorial on localizing (translating) a Firefox extension:

Something like that system would be great for Elemental.  It's surprising how different international communities spring up for software, like the Japanese Poser community, for example.  Making the game more explicitly open to users who speak other languages could only be a good thing, could turn into a great thing.
