[suggestion] Remove charisma from champions

The only effect of charisma is according to my knowledge to make hired champions cheaper. This effect should of course only depend on the charisma of the souvereign (remember you can hire champions as soon as they enter your territory).

Therefore offering the possibilty to increase the charisma of one of your champions is simply a trap to new players and to the ai.

Alternatively you could make charisma actually usefull, e.g. by creating diplomatic infuence or improving some things within a city whenruled by a champion of high charisma. E.g., +0.1 presige per charisma of the champion or something along these lines.

After thinking some more on this, i believe you should also remove charisma from the souvereign.

I come to this conclusion as the attributes are things, which you increase during the game. Cheap champions (the main advantage of charisma as i read it) however are predominantly interesting at the start of the game, while the adventure research tree adds cheaper champions in midgame.

Cheaper Champions could however be added as part of one of the souvereing-professions or as a souvereign trait.

wouldn't just be cheaper champions would be anything diplomatic. one use could be to get the uber demon in that dungeon to spare your life.

Diplomacy, party/army size, morale and quest options should all play off of charisma as well.  Personally I think this is something that should be expanded upon, not removed.  But I agree, as is it is fairly useless.

Quickly, we need to do something with charisma, lest we allow someone to screw up a champion! 8O We can't have THAT in our game can we?

*sigh*   <_<

Attributes haven't been balanced yet and I believe that it's not in scope currently. For example wisdom is just a point sink atm...

All in due time I guess...

We doesn't have seen yet if Charisma has other use than recruiting champions. It will be surely another story if Charisma has on impact on the moral of armies during battles ...

Charisma needs more importance, definitely. I like the idea that charisma:

  • Lowers prices of hiring new heroes
  • Army moral effects
  • Diplomacy bonuses
  • Quest bonuses
  • More quests from people
  • Lowers store prices
  • Increases fertility rate (decrease if below 10)
  • Possibly city bonuses (prestige or gold, from "governing" or something)

It just needs more function, imo.

EDIT: How about penalties or poor results from a low charisma score.

I agree with these ideas.  Frogboy what do you think about increased functionality for champions' charisma and charisma in general?

Best regards,
Steven.

Definitely need to let champions use Charisma for something.  A champion's charisma should also be viewable from the champ's stat screen instead of the equipment screen, as it is now.  My Sov ain't about to marry some chick with a crappy Charisma (read - personality), and I hate having to give her some item just so I can see what the value is...

Solid thought here.. Have a hero with high charisma in a stack then stack gets moral bonus..

diplomacy bonuses speak for them seleves

High charisma hero completes quest gildar/exp bonus.

better prices of the shop nuff said.

and for the sovereign even better..
