will we be able to exceed the normal allotted sovereign/faction customization points?.....

and/or change the values of different specials? I assume if so, this would be done in "the workshop" area as Frogboy called it.

I'm only asking because I often enjoy haxxing myself to godlike power in my single player strategy games. And while it is usually pretty easy to do so with outside editors, I think it would be less of a hassle if one was able to tweak all the numbers in the official workshop.

<shakes head> Never understood why some want to be gods instead of playing the game the way it was intended. Myself I want to be challenged when I'm wasting my time playing a game. Playing in godmode never was fun and just shows lack of dedication to the victory conditions of the game.

You'll be able to edit it somewhere in the XML. Either by editing the starting points per faction or by finding out where in the script it assigns starting points for general use no matter which Sovereign you pick to play with. I'm sure it's possible though, yes.

I tend to agree with Ross above though. I would use this to boost the Stats of my enemies to give them more of a fighting chance and make the game a little harder on me. It might be fun to run around with a God-Like Sovereign once or twice though just for shits and giggles.

I agree with Raven. If anything play the game in a more challenging nature instead of godmoding through it at least the first few 100 games.

Thanks for the answers Raven, though actually I asked my brother last night and got the same answer(he made me feel like it was a dumb question).

As far as how someone chooses to play a game, I really don't think its anyone's business. I dunno why I do it, makes me feel powerful I guess. Like even normally, its pretty easy to win civ, even on the higher difficulties. However missing out on thing bugs me. I like to build every wonder in the same city. I do also do competitive online gaming, well a bit nowadays. I'm only playing League of Legends now, but used to play a lot of WC3/Halo/COD 2/Madden.

Yeah i understand this question actually as in galactic civilizations i used to mod max points just to give myself extra bonuses for building my unique civs *i also had negative traits modded in* but yeah godmodding everyonce in awhile is fun particularly in fantasy games where you want to make a character that starts off moderately tough *i would make a sov with 15 on str dex and con while int and wisdom were both 20-28 and give em several positive traits* it wouldn't be uber rigged but it would be fun to play around with particularly for roleplaying purposes.

I'm going to confess here and say that I actually like to give myself a bit of an edge, although complete godmode would feel extremely pointless. I suppose I just like the feeling of my character being at least a little bit better than everyone else.

But to answer the question; I doubt that you will be able to do this on Sovereign creation, but you will likely be able to do it either in the workshop, or by simply modding one of the .xml files. It's very easy.

Why wait until modding beta? You can do it right now.

Just look at your units directory in my games\elemental in your documents folder.

Go nuts.

Very useful indeed, Frogster :)

I think what the OP wants though is to mod in having more points to use for Sov Creation (which I'm sure is in the XML too somewhere) or is that part done in Python in a core file somewhere? I haven't actually tried to locate that specific file yet.

I'd also like to find out where the random map generation parameters are located at in the file structure. This way if I want I'll be able to auto generate a certain type of map without having to go into the map editor and place things I want on the map by hand and I can have it randomly generate maps with more types of the things I want on them. I.E. More land and less water, higher percentage of goodie huts (or lower), higher percentage of Shards appearing, etc etc.

Heh ... well I personally prefer myself to have far more traits/abilities (combat based only) ... and give my opponents superior numbers and gold-economy.

I can just imagine a Samurai Zen Master with Third Eye and Enlightenment buffs facing off against army after army :3

thanks all, you've been helpful. Raven you are correct in that that was what I was looking for, but I am sure that when the game comes out there will be a lot more info on the matter. Anyways thanks to all. As there was certainly some useful education in this thread.

When you come on a forum asking questions about how you want play it makes it everyones business. If you kept it to yourself and not blabbed about it in an OPEN forum you wouldn't have got the feedback you see here now. You asked for it and you got it both barrels.

fair enough on some levels except when it comes to people telling others how to play. No need for that. Tell me how you like to play or how you don't like to play, but don't tell me how I should play. So again; on that level it is no one else's business. Tolerance.
