You cant tell its there, until you try to build on it and it doesnt let you. You can select, but no graphical way to see it.

Oh, btw on the cloth map it does appear. Just not zoomed in.

Had the same a lot of times. Also had invisible champion who turned visible after recruitment. Unfortunately I can't provide more info on how or why this happens.
