Food ( where have the gradens gone? )

hi all

Downloaded beta 3-a, and i am stugling to upgrade my village to a level 2 town becasue i cant build houses, and i cant build houses becasue ive got no food. Now normally i would build a garden but for some reason the gradens are not in the options of buildings i can currently build, have gardens been taken out??

So my question is, how to i get to level 2 town? I  have no fertile land near by therefore unable to build a farm, so what do i do?? im confused. And if you have no fertile land nearby, what skills does the soverign need to make fertile land...

You're suppose to travel around until you find a fertile ground tile. It helps if you RTFM as it tells you this in it. This game is not going to be like the other easy kiddie games of the past. It's going to take awhile even quite awhile to build up towns to extreme levels so you're not going to get to puff the magic dragon so fast in this one.

You start near a Fertile Land resource, which you can build on once you have connected your city via constructed buildings to the side of the Fertile Land resource.  After your first town, food is a lot harder to get, to make it a lot harder to suddenly come up with 10 cities. ;-)

Best regards,
Steven.

Unless they changed it again in this build, you should be able to build 1 garden per city.

Nop, you cannot build gardens in the latest build.

For which city level? I am playing with empire and the equivalent of garden is available for level 2 city.

Hm, it looks like that you can build gardens with the Empire factions, however you cannot build them with the Kingdom factions.

There's a manual? Where?

I have a town in the newest build, when i created a new game it just put in a town, no choice. it had both fertile ground and enriched within two squares of the city. I cannot build any food producing items, they do not show up greyed out, they do not show up at all. I have both harvesting and farming.

Hey Seedy, assuming that you have the technology learned to use them, you need to have a continguous connection with the city. No longer can we build at those unconnected locations, just because we've got them unlocked. So now you have to connect to them. And grow your city in the direction of the rare land resource.

You have to unlock gardens now.

Things that let players conjure food are going away.

What we've done instead is turn map generation over to a new computer AI personality that makes sure that the world has sufficient resources to work with.

I was only able to build them after choosing the food production specialization for a city when it leveled. There might be some research needed as well. I am really liking the new build but I still find lots of stuff confusing.
