saddles for mounts
just wondering if those will be there in the final game?
Stardock will be closed for the week starting on Monday, June 29th and we will be returning on Monday, July 6th. We will be monitoring support tickets and forums during this time but expect delays in responses during this time.
heh, nice.
I think there should be a Sadles tech and a Stirrups tech.
Sadles tech adds + 1 movement and +1 combat speed (requires a horse)
Stirrups add +1 attack and some extra bonus for Archery (requires a horse and saddle)
Alternatively, riding a horse without Stirrups could give you -20% attack, and with stirrups +40% attack (for a net of +20% attack)
aka, horse gives you -20% attack and stirrups gives you +40% attack (as well as +1). Perhaps have it more drastic for Archers/Bow attacks. like -50% and +80%.
Dont forget the Barding!
i think perhaps depending on what kind of mount you have, it should give you a certain kind of bonus as well, example, a horse will give you more movement points, where as a wolf mount would give you a +1 to attack, i mean come on, its a giant wolf with huge a** teeth, in a fight i don't think it'll just stand there....same goes it you should like get a dragon mount

This is how I see it going down ...
Horse: +3 movement, +2 combat speed, -2 bow attack
Horse with Saddle: +4 movement, +3 combat speed, -1 bow attack
Horse with Saddle and Stirrup: +4 movement, +4 combat speed, +1 attack
Units with a Horse should be able to buy a Saddle, and units with Horse and Saddle should be able to buy Stirrups.
As well, Saddle and Stirrups should be *special equipment* like a seige ram, but for Horse using units only. And you can't get a Stirrups without a Saddle. Perhaps some small gold cost for each (or materials).
Now, the horse should be the most expensive thing (medium gold +1 horse), while the Saddle and Stirrup are VERY cheap in comparison.
Also, I should think that "Saddles" and "Stirrups" each be their own technology, most likely requiring Horsebackriding and possibly one other tech. For instance, Saddles could require Horsebackriding + Leather Armor, while Stirrups could require Horsebackriding + Slings or Archery.
