Random encounters in Beta 3

Is it just my game being bugged or something, or is it normal for random encounters to be rare in Beta 3?  I mean, extremely rare.  Like, this is my 3rd game in beta 3, and in all 3 I've had a continent to myself (playing multiple continents, large map) with not one single beastie wandering around, and a grand total of 1 chest and 1 eq pack across all 3 maps.  Hardly any champions either, just the dude you get at start & maybe 2 others shortly after.

I've been trying the Empire civs, so maybe everyone just avoids their side of the world.  Haven't tried kingdoms yet.

Same goes for inns & quests.  They're rare too.  I'll go down the domination tree to open all those quests, and nada....

Try the multiple continents - Medium map. You'll find some trolls to the east. That one is much more difficult.

The number of 'encounterables' is currently fixed and does not vary with map size. This should be changed by release afaik.

Single continent is a better choice right now anyways with how buggy the sea transports are.

I think the idea of the game is to interact with the AI (which our Froggy master has put a great deal of love and care into making as tough as possible for us.)  One continent sounds like a fair strategy to me.
