[suggestion?] Seasons

I'm sure someone has thought of this, but I can't find any reference to it... is there any plan for a seasonal cycle?  That is, certain tiles become arctic over the course of a certain number of turns, and then cycle back?

I'd be excited to seasons, as well as a day/night cycle -- but I'm guessing those features would require too much time/resources to implement at this point, but maybe in an expansion?

Besides the increase in aesthetic value, what would seasons add to the game?

If seasons were implemented, it would be important to add some value to the seasonal changes.  Perhaps each season could last several turns, and besides a slight change in graphics, the particular season would have an impact on spells.  For instance, "winter" season would see a bonus to ice-based spells, "summer" season increases fire-based spells, etc.

I would love to see seasons.  Don't even care about graphic changes except for winter.  What I want to see though is game changes.  Slower movement and less food production in winter for example.  With the odd food system I'm not sure how that could be handled though.  Spell changes are interesting but just some changes like we have in the real world would be nice.

I have to agree here... seasonal effects on trade, agricultural, and warfare would be cool..  and could mostly be handled by  small + or - bonuses and/or a combination to movement, income, production and food. in fact with a little creative thinking these same small + or - bonuses could be used to represent world events like plague, weather, and natural disasters..

more food for thought!
