Need help to understand food...

So, its about food again, eh?

But someone please help me on understanding how the food works and how to get cities grow.

So, i got it that food is a sort of a "pre-paid" resource.

You build a basic garden and get 2 or 3 food i think. So far so good. I want the city to grow, so i need huts.

Its ok they cost what i have in food. Then I want to grow the city again (think level 3), ill need more huts...

So where to get the food from? I usually build another city with a pioneer, build a garden in the new city and use that food to let my 1st city grow because now i am able to build another hut there...

Is this the way it is meant to be? Is there any other possibility to let one city grow without having to build another city ti get the necessary food?? Can one city grow on its own or not??

Ty for clarifiying this for me... :)

Food is messy right now, it will end up somewhere eventually.

To grow cities, you either need to aquire food resources, bees, wheat, fertile land, stuff like that, or build fisheries on the coast.  I think fisheries for kingdoms are broken right now, and for empire they're hiding in the army building tree with the harbor.

There is the way it is in Beta 3...

And the way it is SUPPOSED to work.

For now, put beta 3 out of your mind and here's how it is supposed to work:

A player is supposed to start out with a fertile land resource nearby.  These rare and special places are where you get your food.

You build your settlement near one of these (at least initially) and build a farm on it.

Later on, you will want to send your pioneers out to find other resources you think your kingdom needs. Maybe you need more food to grow your cities further. Maybe you want armor for better weapons and armor. Maybe you need crystals to get ahold of magical equipment. And maybe it's a shard that increases your magical essence.

If you can't find food, you have one other choice: You can sacrifice 1 essence of your sovereign to imbue the land to have said resource (food, metal, what have you).  But doing so, of course, diminishes the potential of the Channeler in question.

So that's the way it's SUPPOSED to work.  My job is to get this in before the modding beta lest the modders implement it for me and demonstrate to the world just how lame I am.

If you click on the tile, its card should tell you what it needs.

yigor there is a research along the civilization path that allows you to use the bee's.

so food is supposed to be empire wide? i assume you would need a caravan to connect them together.

thx for all your help,

think I got it now !

Food seems to be empire wide, caravans seem to be for gathering some money, but you dont need them to transport resources...

End of Frogboy's quote

Just as a small reminder, you did put a mouse in a fish bowl and allowed it to get out in the kitchen.
