um hi i live in england and im just wondering can i buy the as a CD? cause i really really hate impulse and steam shops with a vengeance so im wondering if its possible to preorder or buy of amazon or sometihng and still get the beta key?
Also, for your consideration, you'll need Impulse to get updates of Elemental.
The game that ships on CD will be 1.0. The game Impulse users will be playing (on day 1) is 1.01 and will have three (?) more weeks of love in it. More love will be delivered via Impulse as time goes on.

You don't need to keep Impulse up and running while playing. You only needed it to get the game, and keep it updated. After that you can just shut Impulse down until you need to use it again.
That and you would have a copy of the game virtually sitting there waiting for you whenever you needed or wanted it. So that way it doesn't take up space on a desk or shelf.

No. If you want in the beta you have to buy from Stardock directly. Not sure if Europeans can order the box version from them, but if you can shipping might be painful. If you want a retail version it might be best to wait.
ok stardock i take it back you have managed to create a none resource hogging and bug-filled online store i take my hat of to you i was put off using impulse because of steam which i had very bad experiences with 
so yeah i plan to now get the money and preorder it ^^, im just wondering to get the beta i preorder straight off impulse right? (sorry about asking this again i properly already have the answer just want to make sure).
Assuming beta 3 is open right now, yes. I *think* it is, but it's a holiday weekend in the US so you might not get access until Tuesday.
Once it's opened the preorder processing is automatic. You can get the preorder straight off Impulse, or http://www.impulsedriven.com, it's the same store. And yep, it's currently open.
