[Bug] [Crash] "Failed to Download Data File" error on spash screen in Beta 0.805

from Elemental Forums

Running a Win 7 desktop system - connected to the internet. Tried turning off Microsoft Security Essentials and creating Windows firewall exceptions. Neither helped.

This problem did not occur on the same system in the prior Beta versions.

Update: based on suggestions in the forum, I uninstalled and reinstalled Impulse. This resolved the issue.

tried allowing Microsoft firewall allow impulse and Elemental access and didnt work. reinstalling impulse again

Had the same problem with 806. Confirmed that running Elemental.exe as admin resolves the issue.

Running Elemental.exe as admin didn't work for me, nor did reinstalling impulse. However, when I made a shortcut of Elemental.exe in my games tab in Impulse (just drag and drop the icon), it worked. Impulse thinks its a custom shortcut, but it still works for some reason.

I had this issue from the beginning, I also created a desktop shortcut to make it work. Having fun with BETA 3A now!

GreekSeasoning was spot on.  I had the same problems as he did and rectified it using his idea.
