[BUG][0.803] Children Age Faster Than Everyone Else

My sovereign's children aged to 18 in about 75 turns, and then aged at the same speed as everyone else.

This meant I ended up with children aged 18 with parents aged 23. It was just very, very odd.

This isn't actually a bug though, but by design. If you take a look at the Neoseeker interview (there's a threat with a link on the front page), Frogboy actually mentions this specific thing.

The ages thing probably needs sorting though, is very weird.

It's weird, but I think it was done because people playing smaller maps would never get a chance to deal with the Dynasty system. On the one hand you could say "Well of course, they're playing short games", but I generally have the opinion that all core features should be available for all ways of play. If someone only likes shorter games on smaller maps, there's no real reason why they shouldn't be able to dabble with the Dynasty system. Gameplay trumps realism in this case, I think.

I hadn't played any game were ages put a matter for me, but how would it be if the age in general would not be of any concern? Meaning, you have to wait only till the child is grown up and thats it. On the other site, does a Sov as a kind of more an immortal style ever die having grand-grand-grand-grand-grand-childs?

Well, make everyone age faster in small games, then? It's that simple. =p

I'm fine with all this weird stuff as long as I get an option to choose normal, sane aging. Can we get that option please, sirs at Stardock? :)

I guess what a Turn equates to in terms of Time has yet to be nailed down?

I had heard rumors of 1 Turn = 1 Year but your #'s don't bear that out for sure.

I prefer a Turn to be a Turn, and Aging should just be done to accommodate the use of the Dynasty system... as previously noted above.

A SoV has Magical powers that are passed on to the children, they mature quickly, then have long prosperous lives... :)

Eh, I'd rather we were just the special ones, to be honest.

Your Offspring already have "Essence", the special component.

As such, they too are special and I do not see that changing anytime soon...

It should be too easy to include this as an option.  Fast aging or realistic.  It shouldn't require any AI modifications, and really minor changes.  I too find it very weird, and don't particularly like it.

I thought Essence was just "life force", hence the usage of the Life magic symbol. So, we can drain our offspring of their life force in order to fuel the war machine. =D
