[.803] [Suggestion] [Usability / Quick Win] Equip-Button

I think this is the third time I need to mention this:

Please add the equip button...Otherwise you have to do many clicks to equip the found item and you can even forget it!

Double-click the item on your bar. It will equip.  ;)

I know...

So I press OK (1 Click), I press item (2 clicks), I double click (4 clicks)

Even worse, if I first have to find the hero, as you never know, which hero has just found something, when more then one is exploring something at the end of a turn

So my proposal is to save at least 3 clicks. You know measuring of mouse clicks is the first most common way to measure usability...

In general the usability of Elemental has to be rated very low:

- many unecessary mouse clicks

- very small buttons to click (e.g. scroll arrows in item list). Again a measurement for usability is how easy can you hit an element and it takes just a longer time to hit a small button then a larger button as you have to place your mouse more precise....

I actually think having the Equip button on that popup window is more unecessary, if you consider that you'll only really use it when you find an item with a character that doesn't have anything in that slot already, or that you know for sure the item is better than what you currently have equipped in that slot.

This is fine for tiny games. As the game goes on, however, the button will see virtually no use because everything you find must either be given to another character, or compared to an existing item.

So basically you just say the usability will get worse as the game progresses...

Total Item Micromanagent...

But how about books, elixirs which change the stats...those I will most of the time use immediately...As I personally will never (beside very powerful items) do item management on the level that I try to find a hero who could use this item better...I think if this really happens than that is a part of micromanagement which needs to be avoided.

Already in my current game I'am bored by the double items I find.

For such items I would wish me a way to convert them automatically into gold (one of the better ideas in dungeon siege, even so not implemented very well there.)

Hrm, I can see it being good to have for quick-use of consumables you find. Can't say I have any argument against that.

I agree with you that item micromanagement should be kept to low levels, and I pitched a global loot system not too long ago where you wouldn't have to physically trade between individual units, instead all the stuff you found went into your kingdom treasury and you outfitted all your champions from it, but that was shot down. Doesn't really relate to your post, but yeah.

The current system is going to get cumbersome in long, large games. Having a use button for consumables would save clicks, but still won't really help with actual items since what I said in my earlier reply still holds and it wouldn't be used much for that. I dunno. Personally I think improvements to the "loot system" overall would be better than having the button.

Saving clicks is a good thing and I like the idea of that button, but I think that instead of directly equipping the item I would want to compare it to what the hero currently has first. So, perhaps make a button just where you suggest in your sketch but make it lead to the character info screen instead, with the correct tab for the item shown? You would still have to click more to equip it but it's not certain you want to equip every item you find immediately, and this would make a convenient way to check out the new shiny loot you just slaughtered some bandits for and see if it's useful.

This is outta topic sorta, but anyone noticed how you can equip more than two rings? Is the max 10 rings? Im sorta used to the 2 ring limit on most games I've played and atm im wearing 4! I hope they come in pinkie size :O

you have 8 fingers AND 2 thumbs, and after a cataclysm there COULD be mutations in the number of fingers/thumbs, which would alter the counts you could have posibly more OR less.
