[Bug/Graphics] Graphical Artifacts

I am still having the same graphical artifact problem in v.803 as I was in v.802. They occur when accessing the kingdom screen or when designing a unit. They seem to disappear after a battle.

I have bad news. I see this all the time at work as a Dell Onsite Tech.

Looks like it could be a classic video card death. Check other games. Then try under clocking the GPU and MEMORY.

If this is in other games, it is the card.

If underclocking makes it go away, the card it still bad, just verifies the problem.

*The GUI isn't distorted as that is a 2d object.

I have exactly the same problem, but only appears here, not in other games.

well the cards only 6m old and it only happens in this game from v.802-3..

Turn off write combining? that was always a problem for me. dunno how you do it on newer cards tho.

Same here. It is not the card, it only happens in Elemental.

This happens to me also-

card is fine.. it's a draw glitch in the programming.

Happens to me as well. Would be nice if it was fixed in the next build because it makes it impossible to test the game since its difficult to see what's on the screen at times.

I have the exact same issue, and this doesn't happen in other games. I also still can't use advanced light: it just turns everything into a blurry mess. I'm using a Nvidia GTX 260.

I've seen this in every beta so far, I'm using a ATI 4670. It always happens when the technology screen first opens. I wish Stardock could tell us what are the best video settings for ATI and Nvidia cards.

I'm continuing to have similar graphics glitches as well; using Windows XP Home Edition, ATI Radeon HD3800, and the latest ATI Catalyst 10.6 drivers. Also happens only in Elemental, other games run fine.

With Advanced Lighting turned on, everything appears murky brown with indistinct outlines. With Advanced Lighting turned off, things look better, but then often after opening other screens within the game (portrait, technology etc) strange glitches remain projected over the map. At one point, I got a popup from Windows that the ATI drivers stopped responding and had to close, but the game itself continued running unchanged.

Also, the retro-dragon intro movie and the audio and background graphic that play throughout the Main Menu play in an very choppy & jerky fashion, this seems to get more extreme with each version of the beta.

For now: Run windowed.

Cause of problem: Your machine is so fast that it's outpacing our rendering engine. We'll have to throttle things further next week.

Thanks. But how do you get it to run windowed? For me at least, it always starts in fullscreen no matter if that video option is checked or unchecked.

I'm running a P4 3ghz, 2GB RAM, ATI4670 w/1GB, Win XP 32bit - if that's too fast for a new game now a days, that's a new one on me! :-"

"Your machine is so fast...".

So, will they edit the specs to say your process and graphics card must be LOWER than.....   :)     Sorry, couldn't resist.

Do not know if anyone else noticed this, I can clear this by clicking in and out of item shop 99.9% of the time.

I'm still seeing this too. Also, for me it always runs in fullscreen regardless if I check or uncheck the fullscreen option before restarting.

Heh - my system is about the same (put in Athlon 3800 and GTS 250 for the card and it's there). Nice to know it's TOO FAST for something in modern times :)

Of course, the graphics style looks good but maybe they way they've drawn them up (almost look like sprites in some cases, which is AWESOME) maybe just about any solid performance card is 'too fast'.

Will try window mode in .806...but how do you scroll in windowed mode? That's the only thing getting in my way.
