Spell thoughts

I was just thinking over the spells that will be in elemental, and often when you use a high lvl spell in these kind of games (Age of Wonders for example) it doesnt have a very high impact on the game, sure you can raise mountains and all that and it SHOULD be pretty huge deal.

So, what if; when you are using the highest lvls of spells (I asume the volcano spell is pretty damn high :) ) it exists a small chance of something going horrible wrong when you use it?

so for example when you raise a volcano there is a small chance that a powerfull firedeamon will be awoken through the volcano and will go on a rampage against the person who awoke him.

also maybe the deamon should be as powerfull as the total force you can muster so it always will be a challange for you to bring it down.

.. or other Sovereigns interfering with your spell in casting and turning it against you or someone else of their choosing. Or just making it blow up in your face.

It shouldn't be a necessarily negative effect, that will just cause save and reload. What it should be is an alternative effect. So maybe a gate to hell opens at the spot of the volcano like you said, but the creatures wouldn't necessarily target the player summoning so that the player would still be potentially happy with the unexpected results.
