[Discussion] Long distance relationships [Marriage in Beta 2]

Just met and proposed to my wife..... I was on the other side of the continent! What makes matters worse within a turn she gives birth to a beautiful daughter. Am I and my Sovereign the only ones worried by this?

Surely all proposals and 'cough' copulations should be cemented in the same square?

Teleport Seed Spell works miracles, I heard? (aka A Channeler did it?)

I'd have to agree with the need of some sort of distance limit. Right now I get my Sov married, send the spouse to a city and keep him/her there until it provides me with up to 4 children while my Sov goes sightseeing far far away (when uber monster in the map allow it) and doesn't even bother to send him/her a letter.

Perhaps they could make it so that a child can only be born when a Sovereign is in a town with his/her spouse for 1 or 2 turns; that'd also give you more control on how many children you actually have.

I had noticed this also.

My sovereign was understandably upset; and began by sending out any heroes of the appropriate gender to meet him in the field.. For some reason.. None of them made it back home. Regretable, really.

But then it kept happening! Unbelievable! With a Civilian! A Pleb!

Suddenly a policy of mandatory drafting of all ages was implemented, and they were stationed at remote outposts and other cities further afield.

Nor did this stop this seemingly mystical production of offspring. It was at this point, I think, where my Sovereign simply decided he no longer wished to know with what or whom these babies were being made with.

Harrumph.

Just cause she tells you it was magic...

It's more strange in the other direction. When your FEMALE Sovereign is out adventuring while Hubby is at home, and she apparently gives birth in the field and magically transports the infant back to the capital.

Usually while in the middle of escorting some young noble scion across the landscape, very very slowly....

Personally, I'd rather not have to micromanage the "nookie runs".  I'd prefer to just assume they hooked up on weekends and vacations and leave it at that.

I totally agree.  Your generals could have babies away from towns in the Total War series too.  It just makes things easier if you don't have to keep the sovereign and their significant other together all the time.

Make the husband/wife disappear for X turns, stating that he/she is accompanying your Sovereign for a wihle, before you get a new baby. Then let him appear wherever he was before and spawn the baby there.

Oh as a side note to my Army friends, apparently this highlighted omission and observation thread is not worthy of even 1 point. Nice!

How do I desert? ;)

They want you to spread the word beyond the forums, to build awareness of the game.  I imagine forum activity on non-stardock forums about Elemental would still score you points :P.

Slightly off topic: I have had many children in the game, where do they go? I have never been able to find them.

Check your capital once they have become adults. While being little cute babies, they live only in the Dynasty screen.
