[Suggestion][Balance] Weapons are less powerful than Armor

I don't have the weapon mechanics totally mapped out, but it seems that armor is dwarfing attack power. Heavy armor gives a much higher defense rating than a claymore and equipping both gives me a very slow attack speed, causing me to use less powerful swords.

I think a little boost to two-handed weapons would make sense.

In general weapons and armor seem to be pretty off kilter with weapons not being able to even approach armour values and armour not seeming to do anything in autoresolve.

also training might come into play, but I cannot do any better training than normal no matter the tech, so it could be a combat system thing.

As a reinactor I hate the myth that a two handed swrod is slow, they are damm fast!

I recall them being pretty heavy. Maybe that first swing is fast, but trying to turn it around the other way is probably going to be slow, unless you are really strong... um.. that was off topic though. I'm actually getting the impression that armor -isn't- too high. I had an armor rating 64 character die to an attack rating 25 monster. I'm pretty sure there is some randomness involved in armor that isn't being expressed on the surface. Either that or it's simply not calculating it properly in autoresolve (not that we can test anything else right now)

Armor -does- make some difference in autoresolve. After fulling decking out my liege with heavy armor he was able to kill a troll. Without the armor he got his rear end handed to him in a paper bag.

I was told in another thread that when you attack both your attack rating and the enemy's defense rating are rolled with 0 as the minimum and their actual rating as a max. IE with an attack of 7 you can do 0 to 7 damage and with a defense of 20 you can prevent 0 to 20 damage. I'm assuming 0s are represented as misses. So no matter how high your defense is there's always the chance of being damaged by a peasant with 1 attack.

In a situation where you have units with 20 def and 7 attack, the average damage reduction is like 60-70% (I did that in my head and have no idea how close I am) which seems normal for a fantasy game character wearing the best armor. I don't think weapons should get much better than that, at least not weapons that can be put onto units with only 5-8 HP.
