You can pretty much create whatever you want, especially if you are a talented gfx artist as well. ;)

I'm sure you'll be able to create as many orcs as you do threads in this forum.

In the beta, no. After the game has gone live, and the modding community starts filling in orders, I certainly anticipate you'll be able to do so.

Heck one thing Stardock has mentioned, that this game will be supported for many years. And it's just as easy for them to source out "Themed" mod packs to graphic artists, to create, a wider variety of monsters, and monstrous beasts.

Myself, I would love to see several styles of monsters appear, ala the Confrontation gameworld, as well as Warmachine, and Hordes, as well as the Iron Kingdoms RPG style story presented.

All of these things, are a matter of interest, and marketing savvy and strategies. Not to mention, fan art creations and the mod packs they'll put together. Cause you pretty much going to see at some point a Warhammer Fantasy style mod come out. Remember this is also a game engine, that's got a LOT of depth to it. So, expect different game play style packs to come along. With many normal updates as well. And if there is a cry and hew for more traditional fantasy monsters, and magic styles, Stardock will be able to listen, and respond.

I hope so. I know that's not a very good answer.

I know there was a lot of talk a bit back about how much focus should be on cannon races and how much should be customisable but to be honest im not sure what conclusion was reached.

I'm pretty sure youll be able to make a greenskinned race, give them certain bonuses and call them orcs, without modding. Im not sure if youll be able to bulk them out. But again i do hope so!

I'm actually glad orcs didn't make it to canon. It'd be a shame for people not to be able to make their favorite weapons.

hey hey, 90% of my threads are either bug reports or ideas - which the devs said they want more - and nobody needs to answer to these threads, they are just information for the devs...

Lol, sorry, I can get a little incoherent when I'm tired and off my medication. What I meant to say is that I'm glad that orcs aren't in the base game. But, I hope that with the modding tools people would be able to make them, because it would be a shame if people couldn't use the classic fantasy races at all.

QFT.

IIRC, there will be a "race creator" of some sort in game, and we will be able to make orcs, elves, hobbits, etc.

as you said "some sort" - question is which sort of...will you only be able to change colours and hair cuts or also size, body form, use "non traditional outfits" such as barbarian outfits, undead-ripped outfits, chaotic-evil-dark outfits etc. etc...

honestly, i think lookwise the current races are too similar - i'd prefer less but more distinc races that serve as "basis" for future modification - therefore i'd like a human race, some sort of undead-chaotic-darkelf-evil race, some sort of barbaric-orcish-brutish-beastmenish-race and maybe some sort of dwarfish-race - to have some kind of default where you can start changing...this would make more sense then having several human races that are all very similar

I guess you missed that part where I said we would be able to make Orcs, Elves, and Hobbits, all of which necissitate changes in body form. Also, look at this older dev journal: https://forums.elementalgame.com/380753/page/3/#replies, speciffically item #2.

Creating Orcs with different artwork and such will require the mod tools, which we don't have yet. It's an advertised feature though, you will be able to do it. :)

What I"m looking forward to seeing is if you can do things like customize their buildings and tech tree. Orcs for example have no need for lumber mills, but the slaves do need to be put somewhere before you eat them.

i would prefer to see some mor distinct races that serve as default models for changes (and make changes easier) or a lot of customizable options regarding traditional fantasy races that do not require modding - not everybody is a modder by heart...(things like pointy ears you can add or stuff like that)
