How do I build past army units peasants?

How on earth do I build an army beyond peasants?

I've got full plate armor researched, archery ranges in my base, but I can't seem to build anything beyond a peasant.  I know I can upgrade them, but I'm hoping for a better tier unit!

I beat 4 opponents on normal with only my Sov.  The 2nd time I beat all 4 opponents on hardest difficulty with 1 sov and 2 adventure champions.  I had 360 battle rating at the end.   Attack speed on level ups is WAY uber.

Same, i builded 2 towns max possible and research everything (like 700 turns) so i cant build any army better than elite peasants in hard plate armour...  so, lets wait next beta stage )

And about stats to raise - i checked battles with ogres etc. - my hero was almost the only one who deal damage, peasants with claymore 6 ATK missed in 90%, so i raised ATK and ATK speed for mine. (result was like Glass Cannon with 18 ATK, 31 DEF and only 13 HP))

Ahh interesting.  Yea, I got a bunch of other champions, and noticed that you can raise attack speed.  So I leveled up 2 champions along with my SOV and just cranked attack speed.  It's kind of strange you can't raise attack speed on the SOV but you can on NPC champions...

I managed to get the +10 attack sword "life sap(i think)" and my 1 champion alone was like 250 combat rating. lol :P

Did you design new units?

I suppose everyone did, including me.

They are still labeled as peasants.

....  My guardian's aren't labeled as Peasants.  It even came up with a default name that suited them!

There is difficulty? Really? I thought that appart from all those too uber random monsters that roam the land (killing 2 of 3 NPC factions in the first turns every game... and any huge army I'm able to amass in the firts 200 turns, and those armies include heavy plate and long swords), there was no difficulty in the game yet. The same as we have hard coded map.

And as Ron Lugge, my designed units come with defulat names different than Peasant. Sometimes I get different types of Royal Guards or City Keepers though.

Difficulty levels are't implemented.

Yea, I designed units of course.   The problem is they still have 5 hp.  If i make a fully upgraded peasant army, it will cost like a ridiculous amount of money.  And then they will instantly get slaughtered by monsters.  5 hp is 5 hp :P

I was hoping the upgraded units would have more hp / base stats.  I even gave them cool names.   I think the problem is the army's are just terrible compared to the champions.  I can have an amazing champion at turn 15 whereas it would be like turn 500 before I can pull off a fully upgraded peasant(10) army that would still die to my turn 15 champion!

Their stats go up based on the gear you give them. I don't think we can do magical gear becauase the magic tree isn't implemented.

Their HP goes up with the training option. When you want to train the troops, there's options at the top like normal/veteran/elite. Those increase the build time, and increase the HP of the units.

As to the last point, your standard units aren't supposed to stack up to a champion. One champion probably won't kill 100 archers, even if each archer only has 5 HP. The armies actually work fairly well I found, I had a squad with bows and they dramatically boosted the power of my Sovereign when grouped together.

Hmm... I see.  Perhaps the numbers need tweaking then.   Because it just takes an enormous amount/time of effort to build any type of army. I'll load up a game and see if I actually have the patience to build up an army.  The problem right now is there is no reason to build an army.  I don't have the patience cause there is no reason. :)   I have no problem building an army if  I need it.   Maybe I'll try tracking down some of those huge monsters.  I was able to kill any monster on the board with 3 lvl 8-9 champions, but I always lost one of my champions.

Yea, I noticed that if I chose veteran i could change the hp from 5-7.

Ah well, time to kill some bone golems.
