[BUG] [ver 0.32] UPS trouble

Every time I play the game my UPS (Belkin F6C750-AVR) send me messages saying that an overload is occurring. And tthat the computer will shutdown himself in 5 minutes.

My computer is an Alienware Aurora ALX and I've try it with many games and it's the only one that overload my UPS.

Does this by any chance occur only when hitting end turn?

Nope, it start right after the game begin and I have to quit the game or my computer will shutdown himself cause of the UPS overload.

I don't suppose you have a Kill-a-watt handy?  I'd be interested in seeing how much power your computer, likely the gpu, is drawing when the game runs.  Esp since you have a 750VA ups.

No, I don't have one but my UPS go like at 115%

I've got two Radeon HD 5800 in Crossfire so it's probably the GPU that go too high...

If it's a UPS that runs through the battery at all times rather than switching from line power to battery only in a power outage, that's probably why. No UPS I've ever seen that was designed for home use can cope with a current-gen SLI setup at full tilt on battery.

So, what you are saying is that I have to pull out my UPS when I want to play Elemental??? :(O

You could try turning the graphics settings down too.  I'm not 100% sure at what point the problem's beginning, but it should help once you're actually playing.

Another solution, if you can do this in Crossfire (nVidia man myself), is disable one of the graphics cards when playing Elemental. That should drop your power draw by enough so your UPS is happy.

Other than that, all I can say is the normal "this is a beta and because it's still in development it's not going to be optimized to run efficiently on your computer."

If the problem is that your UPS can't cope with the power draw of both video cards, you'll have to pull it out to play any game that supports SLI.
