Elemental Army works.. answers some questions.

What in the nine hells am I talking about.

Well the link http://www.giantbomb.com/elemental-war-of-magic/61-24369/

Was posted as a Unique Promotion. What did it do you ask? Well, when I clicked on it and glanced over it, I found myself getting questions that were sitting in the back of my mind. Well answered.

The part about world size 224x160 tiles. Was clearly right there, at the bottom (for those who skim for new information.)

And then he went on to compare it to Civ IV 104x64. To give a sense of depth.

Now that.. that's how this Army works. And I for one am quite happy to be participating for that reason. But also, because I get questions answered when I explore it. Stuff that may be taken for granted by old wizened hands here. Who've known that bit or other nuggets, for a long time.

See some of us, I'm only going to confirm myself, there may be others... and to them I can not speak of. But I find that if I don't want to get burned out on a game or something similar, to avoid getting into the hype or say betas early. If I really intend to play. So when that occurs, I may see posts out in the wild about the game over the last 4 years. And vaguely follow it to a certain degree. But avoid many details, until it gets to that possible critical time when it's just a matter of pebbles of time.

So then it's easier to get in and see what's been going on. What's come before that is now longer a part of it, that may of been some aspect in the past. Changes as it were. Especially if you've read some of Brad's journals, they were all hardcore on certain ideas. Non-Negotiables. Yet, the beta's to this point did exactly what collaborative effort promote. Better game play than what was going to come before.

So... I would say.. to you all out there. Has there been some promotion, that helped answer a question, or inspire you creatively? And if so, can you share it here? So we all can not only learn, but get enlightened, as a group. Be it the old grizzled battle vets,.. or newly born mewling kittens waking up to the dead world after the War of Magic.

The ironic thing is I was already working on that update before the Army came out.  Convenient timing I guess.

Later,

You had that same information in this same section of the forum (and a link to the original thread were Frogboy gave that information many many months ago).

Just saying. :P

Hence, the comment about the old hands, and new ones. I did read the Elemental FAQ for dummies, but still didn't see it, until I did a ctrl+F to find it. And a few months ago, I didn't see Brad mention it.

I think that calling attention to it is useful. Because maybe.. others missed it as well. Or further, maybe they've missed some other key piece of information, that is obvious to some. But not obviously to them, till found later.

That's one of the oldest bits of info in that thread (since the very beginning) with an entry in the Index for a thread made by Frogboy in "April 2, 2009". Only reason why I mentioned it here (old info easy to find... supposedly). But I understand that that or other info could be missed (including bits that I decided no to add to the thread. And no, lastest news doesn't count because I'm delaying to update the thread until Beta 2 hits and... well, Kryoge already did most of what I wanted :P) that's why...

I agree with you or I'd not have started such thread. And hopefully, topics like the one you pointed to will be more frequent.
