combat?
screenshots / video footage?
Hey
I've taken an interest in this game, but I can't seem to find any screenshots or video footage that illustrate what combat looks like?
Any help would be much appreciated ![]()

No video is available at the moment.
Here is the latest combat related screenie:

They have been continuing to work on combat. It (so far) has not been revealed to the public in video form. It's not in the beta yet either. (well, auto-resolve is, but nothing else)
I don't think there's an accurate representation of how combat will really work anywhere right now.
Speaking of combat, is this a modern screen, or an old one?

Cryo - That is a very old one and it's obsolete.
I think the screen Cyro posted looks really nice, despite it being pretty old. Does anyone else agree?
Actually, (though Tormy is right that is Old) , that is a "mock-up" , if I'm not mistaken. It's not a "Real" picture of combat.
Note: It's "possible" I'm wrong and that is a Real combat shot from the old internal build. I'm pretty sure it's a mock-up though.
no its sooo ugly it kills kittens
of course it looks nice
Dwarves kill kittens for +Kitten Tallow Biscuts+![]()
That makes more sense, especially considering the fact that there haven't been many new combat screens shown since then.
Ok, so it is kinda like Age of Wonders or Heroes of might and magic.
Basically, there will be (optional) separate tactical battles; when two armies meet on the strategic map, a new tactical map opens up where "simultaneous turn based combat with tiles" occurs. Unfortunately we know relatively little about combat, it's going to be one of the last features implemented (just before modding tools).
Most of what we do know comes from this post, which is interesting reading.. but most of it is a debate about the specifics of combat, we haven't received any final answers to the questions that get argued over (as far as I know). We probably won't know the details until the tactical combat beta (Beta 3, the next one).
An excerpt:
well, all the battles Ive fought so far have been my Sov vs 1 enemy soldier, or my Sov vs 5-10 enemy soldiers.
The only time my Sov was ever "defeated" was while fighting strong monsters.
Ive noticed that enemy Sovereigns have a habit of not stacking with their army. Not that I'm any better, but still, it makes their Sovereigns a bit more easily defeated.
