Elemental Army question

First off, pretty cool contest and a great way to get people to participate more.

Now my question on forum posts, do you really want a quest submission for every single forum post?  I'd think that will get a bit overwhelming to manually check.  Or will you have a program in the background that will detect forum posts and automatically give credit for them?

Thanks!

Well, they did mention that the quests with point ranges would be checked for amount of percieved effort, so I'm fairly sure that they'd have to manually check every post.

we are manually checking, however, if people are just posting new threads of no real value or reporting like a dozen threads at once some of them will probably get rejected.  Or get 0 points.

Also, please don't report threads from months ago. The focus is more on current and future activity (particularly insightful or helpful posts), or those on other sites that bring attention to Elemental.

Sounds good.  You need any part time help checking this stuff I'll send my resume on over.  :D

They are covering and monitoring, I will admit I tried to submit a cheesy reply as a quest reward. I got 0 points!

So, to make sure you qualify make sure there is content that will educate, guide, or assist people when they read it.  So, being a troll will NOT get you anything other than arthritis here!

Plus, it helps keep the forums clean with good posts! I was kind of worried myself of people just posting for points sake.

I've been kicking around the idea of using my status to change my University's homepage into an Elemental advertisement.  I wonder how many points and how much trouble I would get in for doing such :-P

I can see the headline now: "University Webmaster fired for replacing website with Stardock ads to win contest."

Schools concerned about their image as a serious institution tend to frown on what looks like having their site hacked (even if it wasn't really hacked).

Then may I suggest you update the How to Rules. Because if someone hadn't seen this forum post by you guys, and they get rejected, because "Nothing" in the How to part of the rules states we should try to focus on "Current" activities, or that your Digg articles submitted by Island Dog that we ... you know actually digg.. even if they are recent will be rejected too.

That may help focus these better. It shouldn't be just consigned to this area, it needs to be updated in the rules as written. So in a sense if it's too out of date, you could point that out. And it would make sense, and oh, probably keep people from essentially wasting our collective time trying to go by the rules as written.

All of my diggs(pre 9th) that were rejected did get "out of date" as the reason.  Go recheck, calm down, and breathe. :)

I hear you Zampolit, but my were not noted for that. And the base rules themselves don't mention that. So they need to be updated to reflect it. Rules for contests have to present a fair expectation to all participating.

If you know what I mean. That's why I've brought it up.

Just an update on my own, as it is germane to this conversation.

They did correct some of my submission request for Digg that had been initially. So with their new admin tools in place this type of thing will be easier to rectify, and that way they can go through the top 10 and also remove the recent digg submissions that weren't given by Island Dog, and remove those 90 points or more per person, since in theory there should be no digg articles other than the two proffered by Island Dog this month.
