Some upcoming Awesomeness!!!

Oh yeah!!!

I found a few games coming out that I'm oddly enough looking forward to greatly. Why is that "odd" you might ask? Well, I normally don't get into FPS type games anymore. Of course there are the classics I loved like Unreal Tourney and Half-life, but as far as shooters go in my eyes they are mostly "played out". Now days they mix genres like FPS/RPG etc etc. Usually just a gimmick that ends up either limiting the shooting aspect or limiting the RPG aspect or in the worst case, both.

Some of these games have been awesome though in my opinion. Such as DeusEx 2, Fallout 3, Oblivion, etc etc you know the type.

There are two new games coming out though that I think are going on my "Must Buy" list. The first one is DeusEx 3. Check out this trailer.

The next game is called "Bulletstorm", by Epic Game....and man it looks EPIC. The game-play footage here is awesome and reminds me heavily of the original UT mixed with some Quake. Check it out on Youtube here.

Both of these games look simply amazing. It's gonna be a good year or two for gaming I think. Provided the whole system doesn't go completely over to needing to be "on-line" 24/7.

Multiplatform.. and I didn't see mention of Epic anywhere in those two videos.

The new "Deus Ex" looks like some huge weaboo over-the-topness with little-to-no semblance of the originals that were kept relatively down-to-earth. Makes me sad to see Deus Ex going from "Greatest Games Top 10" to "Bad" to "Worthless".

While Bullet storm looks fun, I do worry about Deus Ex. I really enjoyed the first one, but the second left me disappointed. While both games had their share of glitches and issues, I found myself so immersed in the first game that I rarely noticed. The second game, by comparison felt a lot more like a generic shooter to me.

By weaboo you mean inspired by something like Ghost in the Shell?  That shit sounds awesome, and not too different from Deus Ex since they're both cyberpunk in their own ways.

Click on the vids them-selves and it should open a new player in a new window on Youtube (depending on your personal pop-up settings)

As far as I know both have been Confirmed for a PC release as well. If Epic is pulling out of PC then this might be their "last" PC game. If so then I'd say the PC version was done or mostly done before they decided not to make games for the PC anymore. They wouldn't scrap something that's almost done knowing if they release it they'll at least make some money.

I actually liked the second one a little better then the first. I think the cross styling they are doing with the new one looks pretty cool, that's just me though. They are going for a "Victorian meets Cyberpunk" feel. So far (at least in CG vids) it looks like they are pulling it off nicely. Whether or not the game will actually be any good has a long way to go before it will be seen.

Did you get into all the enhancements and stuff you could use in the first one? That was one of those rare games back in the day that I played through 3 separate times to beat it each way I could.

I'm not saying some weaboo faggotry is incapable of being good. I'm saying that I loved Deus Ex and this isn't it.

LoL

I don't know, I didn't really get into the series much until the second game. The first one was good, I just thought the second one had a slightly better story.

Well, I played through the first one maybe 6 times (?) but only properly completed it 3 or 4 times. Some character builds just didn't do it for me :)

As for Invisible War, I played through it once and a tiny bit through a second try. It just didn't hold my interest.

I'm noticing more often now (and no doubt in part because others are pointing it out as well) that multi-platform and port titles have to make sacrifices that strictly PC titles don't need to consider, and primarily PC gamers, such as myself, aren't terribly accepting of. I think Invisible War may have been one of those titles.

They didn't make Invisible War for the consoles did they? When it came out for PC it had some pretty steep running requirements and had top of the line graphics for it's day. I was pretty impressed. Especially with the physics system that came into play. Glass and Wood acted like Glass and Wood, Metal like Metal, I.E. you could shoot through a wooden box or wall but not through steel or concrete. It was a great technological achievement in gaming when it hit. At least I thought so anyway.

Of course we're also talking about a title that's getting on in years now (as far as software goes). Compare it to the CryEngine 2 or 3 and Invisible War looks laughable. If the made it for the consoles I wouldn't want to play it and I'm glad I bought the PC version. If it was ported it had to be one of those rare games that the PC version was Superior to the console version (more memory, better graphics, better frame-rates etc etc). It used to be, back in the early days of multi-platforming titles, that if there was a PC version And a console version the PC version was almost always Superior (they were after-all made For consoles but being made On/By a PC). Now days that's exactly opposite. Consoles get priority and If a PC version is made it's often "Dumbed Down". The only recent title I can think of that was made Better on the PC then on consoles was Dragon Age.

Im worried about Deus Ex. No gameplay yet but then E3 is around the corner so all I can do is hope.

They did. It's why all the core game mechanics are different.

Anyway, the trailer looks awesome. What I heard so far about the gameplay is also promising. (http://forums.eidosgames.com/showthread.php?t=86841)

Also, a short reminder: The trailer is made by Square Enix, the game itself IS NOT.

I hope Deus ex 3 will be more like the original, but I doubt it. The trailer is very good though, so I'll certainly be keeping an eye on it.

Ahh, I didn't know there was a console port of that. From the sounds of it that's just another reason why I'm glad I bought it on PC.

Very true. Something to think about. I haven't heard or seen anything on actual game-play yet, just concept stuff and ideas they're supposed to be incorporating.

Really? That said, I can't really tell a difference, direction-wise. They seem to be going with some post-cyberpunk 'rule of cool' dystopian alientech thing with lots of RADICAL!™. Quite a difference from the near-futureesque low-sci fi setting of Deus Ex.

Not having played the first I enjoyed Invisible War. I have it on the original Xbox and the game was a pretty good romp. I guess since peeps are so adamant about the first one I need to check it out sooner or later.

Read about Deus Ex Revolution. Really just not my style.

Bulletstorm is by Epic Games and People Can Fly, the studio that did Painkiller. I guess if I wanted a game of this type I would go with Painkiller Black Edition which you can get on Impulse for $9.99. Same basic idea. Don't really like the music behind either one, though. Playing with your kills to me is a lot like playing with your food. Naughty.

Agree the trailers for both the new Deus Ex and Bulletstorm look epic.

Just keep in mind that Deus Ex wasn't a terribly pretty game when it came out, and visually, it hasn't aged well. It's a great game, just an ugly game :)

There is in fact a project that allows you to run Deus Ex 1 in DX10 mode with higher res' available.

It looks better. Still not great mind, it's still original low poly models and low-ish textures, but it is better with a higher screen res.
