Dinner, dinner, what's for dinner?

Quittin' time (end of the work day) is rollin' up on me and I'm sitting here thinking about what to have for dinner and thus far, drawing blanks.

I might pick up stuff to make a pizza at home (I take the lazy approach to that, Boboli "shells" and Ragu pizza sauce, topped with cheese and perhaps some pepperoni), but I'm not sure that's what I want.  Co-workers are talking about going to my favorite steak place tomorrow, and I usually do head there once a week, and that has me thinking I should avoid doing beef as I get enough of that in an average week.  I could perhaps do a Subway Oven-roasted Chicken Breast sub, but I've eaten enough chicken this week too.

I should probably just pick up a box of cold cereal and some milk and do that.  That usually cleanses my pallette and helps me get out of food ruts, but as I've aged I find that milk products and I don't get along as well, so that's not necessarily a great idea either.  Bleh.

Darn, I hate food ruts.

I wish I had your problem!  if I get beef once a week, that is a good week.  Most of the time it is just chicken, chicken, chicken!

Most weeks I'd do beef once for the week.  While I love eating beef, I know it's not good for me to eat that much red meat and I really try not to take in too much.

I do eat a good bit of chicken in most weeks, and also take in a good bit of cheese and butter along with red sauce on pizza or pasta.

My weekly beef serving typically comes from my favorite inexpensive steakhouse type place, and I have a habit of getting a serving of broccoli with the beef.  When I'm home I tend to be lazy about fixing veggies though I do enjoy eating green beans, lima beans, and asparagus as well as broccoli.  (And succotash and sweet corn as well).

Sometimes a little extra beef sneaks in via a steak & cheese sub or perhaps some beef stew or Chef Boyardee Beef Ravioli or a burger, but again I try to be good about not eating that much red meat.

If I happened to like seafood more, I could stretch the menu a bit more, but I'm not much of a seafood eater and what seafood I do like would be battered and fried in most cases so again not very good for me.

Most of my beef is either steak or BBQ.  I get a burger about once a month, if that!  A pure vegetarian day is not rare, and I kind of like it, especially in the summer (the beef sits heavy on the stomach when it is hot).

I love sea food!  But my wife does not, so I rarely get it.  half the time when we go to a steak place, I will get the talapi or salmon (both because it is what the doctor recommends, and because I love the stuff).

For the rare times I'm doing seafood I enjoy some broiled Mahi Mahi, or perhaps some Rainbow trout, but really my taste in seafood runs towards really mild fish broiled in lemon, pepper and butter.

The rest of the seafood gamut (crabs, oysters, clams, etc.) are not something that I enjoy at all, so I'm happy to leave that stuff for everyone else to enjoy.
