Fancy Graphical name here

I don't know what to call this but the marketing people will come up with something I'm sure.

Elemental will quietly use lots of cool graphical features to make the game still look good on older hardware.

This is a screenshot of Elemental on a low end ATI mobile card.

While someone looking at it can tell the difference between this and the glory of the latest hardware, it's surprising subtle to casual users.

My attitude is thus: If I can't play Elemental on my 4 year old laptop on the plane, then it's dead to me but when I get home and play it on my super mega GTX 480 mega machine and have it look awesome, well screw it then. :)

When I get a chance, I'll try to put a side by side comparison.

While we're on the subject of graphics, the Options in the beta really need drop-down menus. Having to keep pressing those arrow-buttons is *such* a chore.

Just sayin'.

Just hope my rotten, ATI 9800 128MB card will make the cut.  If not, I will know soon enough and do a stealth card purchase and install before the wife catches wind of it.

That screen is good enough for me though. \o/

Is elemental still using shader model 2? Or have you moved on to using 3 (the 9.0c stuff?)

Sweet! My laptop has a low end ati mobile card! (Though i have to say, that screeny looks a bit sparse, a little variation between the textures of the empty tiles would be nice. Or less squaredness, i know it's a tile based game, but completely square forest are just silly.)

Looks great, recently built my own computer so I have no worries about requirements;  I am interested on what it will look like on max. This is however very good news for my friends with older machines, I hope they do get this game however :P

Any chance on getting Cry engine 3 for Elemental?  ;)

Well I was thinking  the same at first, but if you look at the other objects, the do overlap squares, so it is not that bad :-).

Anyway, I like art direction and colorful presentation, but obviously, that screenshot look a little bit rough, textures are not very detailed and AA would help alot. For  such an old PC it is really very nice, my hope is, that engine will scale up well for those who has latest hardware.

Still, where is some grass swaying in the wind, shadows from the clouds and smoke from the houses :-). I also hope, things are not static, like trees etc, hard to say from screenshot :-P

Some birds and neutral (non attackable) animals would make world come alive.

I'd love to see a side by side picture, simply because I think that picture looks quite good already.

I'm sure I'll be able to max out/nearly max out Elemental as-is, but even on low-end hardware, it'll look great.

Look good, but what about netbooks ?

I believe Brad has stated notebooks get cloth map, if they can play it at all.

Can I lend you some chance? Because by itself that pic seems fine to me.

Yea, the sample pic looks amazing compared to what I thought might be the case.
