Defining Children vs Champions

Now not sure how doable or even desirable this would be, but after reading one of Tsaunke's posts (Hope I got your name right) I got to thinking that Our children should be different from our champions.

Right now the Children my sovereign has just feels like champions I didn't have to recruit and it just doesn't feel right. I feel like they need to feel different from Champions, and different in a Lore/System way. I don't know just feels like there needs to be a bit more depth here. LOL yes there is obviously alot of feeling going on in this post.

Mabey a system way would be that children start out with essence.

Unfortuantely I can't quite put my finger on it, but it does feel a little wrong atm. So mabey others could throw up ideas on how to address this if they agree.

Also why we are on the subject. Another thing that doesn't feel right is once you are married how quickly the first 4 come (Though I have never had more than 4), How quickly they grow up, and that once they die they don't seem to replace or go away.

I think they should definitely be spaced more on births.

Mabey take longer to grow up. Though not sure people are going to agree there.

And when they Die the need either a skull or red X or something overlaid on their images in the dynasty tree.

Also when they are born we need to know before naming if we got a Boy or a Girl. Last playthrough guessed wrong 3 out of 4 times and my two girls where named Dor and Khy, while one of my boys was named Tyri.

"Maybe a system way would be that children start out with essence."
End of quote

Your children already start with Essence. That is what separates them from Hero's at this time.

P.S. I think there may be one Recruit who has some, albeit very limited... (would need to confirm)

The generations of your children would sure be an interesting way of dating how far into your game you are.

There is one recruit who has 15 essence!!!   O boy did Ii enjoy it when i recruited him!!! The OP has some  very good points that need addressing.  Although, I'm sure that the version I'm playing tells me if it is a boy or girl before I name them.....

Children do need a little work. While they do display the gender of the child while naming them it could go a little further. I'd like it if you could go into a customization menu to "set up" you child the way you want them. By default they'd use the child creation algorithm but you could customize their initial look. I suppose another bonus could be that you could create them like you would a sovereign but that'd spoil the surprise. I think it'd be suitable if we just name and customize their look... perhaps we could test and see if selecting their class unbalances things.

It'd be nice if there was a way to control births (either encourage or discourage). Perhaps putting the King and Queen together should encourage births while distance discourages it. Also, perhaps you should be given the an option to "try" for a baby or not, instead of just forcing it (maybe the "surprise" baby could be a 0.1% chance of occurring).

There is a lot we could do with dynasties and children in this game!

I entirely agree. Building my own dynasty and (sometimes) watch it expand by itself was what kept me playing good old Starlord game for ages ! (reviews here).
