I think it would be better for the setting to use more aged terminology.
As an example ... the research aspect should probably replace "Technology" with "Knowledge" and replace "Research" with something like seek.
What knowledge do you wish to seek?
We have found/uncovered another piece of knowledge!
Or
Which source of Knowledge do you wish to expand on?
We have gained more knowledge!
