No. I can't create new games after leaving an old one, and am having random, unreproducible freezes.

For me, yes. Some people have problems. I do not. That's all that matters. :P

I would rather spend more time finalizing the gameplay and overall stability at this stage, before moving on to a focus on multi-player. Time spend now will pay dividends later. We need to make sure that the core gameplay is as solid as it can be before we start mucking about with multiplayer and 3D engines...that was the entire concept of Beta 1 and the cloth map, and it was a brilliant idea. I would much rather spend another month finalizing the gameplay, expanding it, refining it, and ensuring that it is a good as it can be. Everything else is at best of secondary importance, and can wait.

I am ready to proceed, based entirely on my own level of game stability.

Also, you post a lot, Tasunke. I can never keep up.

No.

Although some games go for many turns, I have played many that dont last 10 turns, without a lockup or CTD.

I am also suffering CTD problems when starting a new game while an old one is running. I reluctantly take back my "yes" vote until this particular issue is fixed.

I hope not! The object of Beta 1 was to make it playable in the loosest sense of the term. Beta 2 is a gameplay beta. I'm really, really looking forward to seeing some graphics now. I mean seriously. My eyes hurt.

I'm afraid not...Beta 2 is Multiplayer. The 3D Engine is Beta 3. As you can see, our current stage, Beta 1Z, is supposed to be solidified game mechanics. I don't feel that we have that yet. Until we do, there is no sense going forward. We need to make the gameplay and game mechanics fun and awesome, even on just the cloth map. Right now things are good, but there is massive room for improvement.

BETA 1 Finale (Spring 2010)
  1. Beta 1Z: Solidified Game Mechanics

BETA 2: Multiplayer Beta (Spring 2010)

  1. Initial build provides basic multiplayer (Impulse::Reactor hosted)
  2. Beta 2A: Achievements, rankings, leagues
  3. Beta 2B: Custom Games

BETA 3: 3D Engine enabled (ETA Spring 2010)

BETA 4: Tactical Battles. (ETA Summer 2010)

  1. Introduction to tactical battles (tactical magic spells enabled)
  2. Beta 4A: New multiplayer mode: Arena
  3. Beta 4B: Massive AI overhaul in general

BETA 5: Modding (ETA Late Summer 2010)

  1. Map Editor, Item Editor, Tile Editor
  2. Custom Server Worlds
  3. Cloud sharing of mods
  4. Tutorials on advanced modding

According to Frogboy:

Making game mechanic changes and the process of turning it into something that doesn’t cause psychological damage due to the horrible game play experience won’t begin until Beta 2 when we get real people to play each other.

Beta 1Z News and Info!

I'm gonna say no, though not by much. It's much better for me now than the previous versions, but it still freezes sometimes (annoyingly producing no reports to report :( ), plus that stuff others already posted. But it's seriously getting better! One more version before beta 2 could do it :)

We're moving forward to beta 2.  Based on reports, it's working pretty well for most people.  It makes more sense to deal with edge cases during Beta 3 when the full engine is on.

I'm happy about this. It feels like we've been in Beta 1 forever.

The criteria we will be using to determine whether we believe it's ready to go to beta 2 would be:

3. The ability to run a new game from within a new game.

This should be fixed for Beta2 Froggie [this is a reproducible CTD] -> https://forums.elementalgame.com/381981

Tormy: I lied.

Turns out that we won't be able to do that as long as we've got the graphics engine disabled for beta users. They're related.

Since when is that a lie?:P

Yea, some bugs are really difficult to fix in public builds because they're so crippled.  The best way to get them fixed is to move forward to where users are closer to using the same build we have.

Just out of curiosity, do you guys still have this bug? You're pulling the screensize from the wrong monitor and throwing up an error when the game tries to load.
