GalCiv 2: Ultimate Edition - Is it worth getting a boxed copy?

I think I'm going to buy GalCiv 2: Ult Edition off of Impulse, but I'm not sure if it's worth the $10 shipping to get a boxed copy along with the digital copy. Is the instruction manual beefy and worth the extra $10?

Thanks for any responses.

Hey johnwestendorf.  I don't own the Ultimate Edition.  I do have the GalCiv2 Gold Edition.  The manual is not huge but does have some good hard info.  I am a player who plays first, looks later at manuals.  The Gold Edition manual is 96 pages long of which approximately 50-70% I consider good to know info.  Hope someone can respond to your query who already has the Ultimate Edition.

I am old school, I still like having a box, manual, and Disc, but all you really need is just the ditigal download from impluse. The game includes several tutioral missions to give you a taste of the UI and basic gameplay. It also has a PDF manual option off the main menu screen. Unless your like me and love to collect the box you really don't need it to enjoy the game.

No, it isn't. First, your box will likely arrive damaged, if it has to be delivered anywhere else than the US. Second, you get the manual in PDF if you buy the download version, so you're not missing out on anything. Third, you can have the game in windowed mode and the manual open in the background.

The box will feel nice in the beginning, but over time will become just a nuisance since you apparently have enough bandwidth to install through Impulse, which is much more comfortable. Speaking for myself, I have stopped buying boxed versions of games two years ago, because I simply couldn't put up with the boxes anymore. Games that can be registered  over Impulse or Steam are better, since you don't need the box afterwards, but those that can't will occupy your precious space and irritate you to endless heights, since you'll need them every time you want to install/play the game. I am even willing to pay premium for digital versions of games on Steam/Impulse just because of the added comfort.

Admittedly, this is not an issue here since you get the digital version as well, however, I would ague that you gain nothing by receiving the boxed copy.
