For me it did, yeah. Game had crashed, and when I later loaded the autosave it was like that.

Yep, it is after loading a saved game.

Portraits are fine on a new game.

 

Still can't create a new game without exiting first.

If I try to restart a new game after starting a new game or loading a saved game, half the environment on the map doesn't show up. I always have to close Elemental, start Elemental back up and then start a new game.

I've had the same with pioneers and ebbonwolves, though with ebbonwolves the last 2 games their initial portraits were black, they didn't start out normally then go black after loading/restarting a new game (I always quit Elemental before starting a new game).

This is still a problem in Version 0.32, beta 1Z4.
