I was repeatedly clicking the turn button.

I was around turn 250.

Interesting I got a game up to turn 1251 just building two cities and researching nothing else.

250 is the highest I have been able to play actually.

I usually crash out between 35 to 80.

I can usually tell when it is about to happen. Things like duplicate combat for each fight or the next turn button graying out for long periods indicate an impending crash.

The space bar is the hotkey for ending your turn. Try holding it down and never responding the the first prompt. A lot of times, the game eventually crashes, but it's probably not the turn-ending that does it. That this problem remains from 1G is what tells me personally that the game shouldn't be rushed
