Restoration Magic

I don't know if this is worth mentioning or not, but I noticed in the beta I just got the EVERY single sovereign has restoration magic in their starting kit.  I'm assuming that is probably because healing is something most players don't want to live without, but if it is so critical that every character is going to want it, why make it an option?

Why not have those certain spells everybody is going to want be defaults, and just make the things that really are optional be options you have to pay points for?

I'm brand new to the beta, so if I am misunderstanding or off base, just disregard these comments.  heh

That Magic is to Restore the Land and consumes Essence, which is in limited supply at the start. Otherwise you would be required to find aerable land on which to start your cities.

There's also some back-story/mechanics talk from the devs about this in threads like The Tragedy of Procipinee. For sandbox and campaign games, there's a historical figure who made sure that all channelers knew how to use their essence to restore cataclysm-blasted lands to health, although the definition of healthy lands depends on whether your faction is aligned with life magic or death magic.
