Upon defeating a hero I leveled up and the game immediately gave me a blue screen and my computer restarted.
BSODs are generally caused by hardware or driver problems, and the error message it shows can help pin down exactly what the issue is.
The next time it crashes, you may get a BSOD similar to the one below (not all highlighted parts may be present):
Write down the information in the highlighted areas before turning your computer off. The information there can then be researched online to see if others have experienced similar problems, and what the cause was. You may also get a 'windows has recovered from a serious error' message when you turn your computer back on--if you do this, you should agree to send the report to microsoft. You'll then be forwarded to information about that error on Microsoft's knowledgebase, if they have any.
Well I would include the information from the BOSDs I keep getting while playing elemental however I cannot read any of the page before the computer reboots. I see the BOSD for about 1/15 of a second and once my computer is back to the desktop I don't get any kind of "Windows has recovered from blah blah blah" error messages. Typically I get this crash when opening a window like the unit designer, LV up window, or when founding a new city and the research window opens.
I also make sure I have update drivers and the like so I have no idea what is causing this problem if it is on my end.
Update: I installed a new version of my sound card drivers, perhaps that will help.
Update2: Well even after I updated my sound card drivers I still get a BOSD & restart when opening windows in the game such as the unit designer. I don't suppose there is a way to read the text from the BOSD after my computer reboots.
There's an option in the system properties in control panel to disable windows from auto-rebooting on a BSOD.
