[Suggestion 1Z] Population Taxes and unrest.

Population that doesn't generate taxes doesn't feel good at all. It feels very artificial with the merchants. I worked to build housing, spending a lot of gold and reaching 7k pop ... and all I got was this lousy T-Shirt.

What about a tax rate that would also cause unrest or something else? I would even live with a fixed gold rate per pop.

Definitely agree that population growth should entail gradual development and benefits, not just building up to discrete city level changes.

 

Unrest? Meh. The entertainment structures in the game would facilitate such things, but managing population happiness always felt like pointless busywork in the Civ games. It hasn't been a particularly interesting game mechanic.
