[Crash] 1z starting game

after selecting opponents and starting game

After I select my opponents and try to start the game the game crashes to desktop.  This happens every time regardless of the hero or number of opponents.  Here are the crash files and my dxdiag.  I did install the latest graphics drivers to rule out that issue

This happens to me as well. I never had any issues launching a game in the previous beta, but I have been unable to start even once in 1Z; It consistently crashes right after "creating world" no matter what settings I use. I tried deleting the files in "My Documents" to no avail.

Likewise, I can no longer play with the new 1Z1 build. It crashes immediately after selecting the appearance tab when creating a new sovereign. And it crashes when I press play, no matter which sovereign or number of opponents I select. Running WinXP Pro SP3, Intel Core2 Duo 2.4 Ghz, 3 GB Ram, new ATI Radeon HD 5500 Series profile graphics card.

Didn't see this addressed directly in the new patch notes.  We'll see if one of those other issues made it crash when "creating world"

Nope, no go... still crashes when creating world.  Here are the new files

Try going to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Stardock\Elemental - War of Magic and delete your Screens folder.

Then do a verify install to make sure that you have everything, as there's an error message about not being able to find a minimap window.

If it says that you have a good install, try turning off anti-aliasing. We've been seeing problems with the Nvidia 8000 series.

deleting the screens folder worked for me.  Thanks CariElf!

ps.  That was all I had to do.  I was going to go step by step until I got it running, but it was a quick one.

I was having graphical problems.  Items on the map were not being shown, but were there.  After moving they would reappear.  Also had a strange effect with the water hovering over the black in a hidden area.  Turning off anti Alias seemed to fix it

End of CariElf's quote

That worked for me. Thanks!
