[Crash] Game crashes on launch in Win 7 Ultimate x64

I have just downloaded the current beta via the Impulse software. When I attempt to launch the game using either the Impulse software or running the .exe directly in it's folder, the screen flickers, I see the Elemental icon in the task bar, then it goes away and the game does not launch. The provided link has the memory dump. Here is the link to my DXDiag file http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6015726/DxDiag.txt

Basic system information is as follows

Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit

AMD Phenom II x4 805 proc

4 gig of ram

DX 11

2 monitors, one 28" set to 1900x1200 (set as monitor 1) and a 17" set to 1280x1024 (set as monitor 2)

Game did not crash on open for me, with same OS and similar characteristics (including having a dual monitor set-up)

But the game did just "hang" on me after demolishing a couple of gardens...

FIXED

Disable dual monitor mode... Use only main monitor. Works fine now.

Not a fix, a workaround. I won't disable my second monitor and have to reset all of my icons and other things that rely on my having a dual monitor setup just to play a game.

Suit yourself. But you are better off saving your indignation for when you are not beta testing a product.

Oh, and you're welcome. :|

There was no indignation there. I have done software QA for a living for over 5 years now so I am *always* testing products. I was simply stating that what you found is a workaround and not a fix and I don't know anyone that would be happy with having to change their video settings every time they wanted to play a specific game.

Well, I am pretty sure that the devs will fix this. :)

Another work around is running the game in windowed mode.  I have the same problem with dual monitors, but found the pref.ini file in C:\Users\<username>\Documents\My Games\Elemental.   Set Fullscreen=0 to play in windowed mode.

It seems that altering that file outside of the game before running the game for the first time doesn't work. I had to disable the screen, play the game, alter settings in game, and then re-enable my second monitor to get it to work.

Setting it to windowed mode seems to take care of the dual monitor issue as well. You need to run it once with one of the monitors disabled in Windows, then in settings remove the checkmark next to Fullscreen.

Thanks for the heads up guys. Hopefully they will fix this issue in a future build, or at least set it so that Fullscreen is not default.

.299 patch seems to have fixed the dual monitor trouble btw. At least it did for me.
