The last thing I heard on this was that they'd decided to change the system based on feedback so that daughters won't be married off. Not sure if it's changed in the current release or not, but it's going to be fixed.

I agree with you totally, though I'm a male. It's somewhat more realistic the way they originally had it, but the "fun" factor isn't really there if you want a badass heroine leading your army and not just to be diplomacy bait.

That's only if you believe the profile and/or assume that aurore has kept the same gender since 2003.

For newer folks interested in the general topic, there have been several threads in the past and ikros' Female friendly features thread has been getting occasional activity for almost six months.

The problem with the internet is that a proportion of th epeople you meet on it believe themselves to be very smart, and do not hesitate to be insulting rather than using their brain before calling someone else a liar or claiming they know better than them what their own gender is. I hope you have more curtesy in person than online.

Yes, Female Heroes will be in the game.  Yes, you'll have control over who marries and who doesn't.  Yes, I'm a male, and I'll be creating a Female Sov.  And I don't even have an excuse like Kochujang where I have someone to play my opposite.  I just find females easier on the eyes....  And please, don't misinterpret that as, "I think they're hot."  Sometimes they are, it's true...  But let's face it, the female form is just...  Well, better, really.  Some people don't like to play opposite-gender characters, and that's fine too.  But, Stardock -is- giving us the choice, and that's good for us players/customers.

Ayway Im not a raging feminist. I posted here mostly because I find it frustrating in Total War that the 'no female generals' is hard coded badly enough that even moders cant get round it. Middle earth mod with no galadriel or eowyn is a shame, so I wanted to avoid the same problem here. Didnt realise it had already been addressed.

As to rpg's I just like to play characters I can identify with. Thats just me, not women in general. One of my friends, who is an attractive and inteligent woman, always plays the nastiest looking hairiest male character she can find in MMO's, ideally a troll or ogre or similar. Then she makes it no secret she is a woman, just to make life as hard as possible for the overhormoned teenagers who want to hit on her. Hard to hit on an ugly male troll even if you know its a woman behind the screen But in RPG's I like immersion and i want to feel like I am the one doing the ass kicking

I am a male and tend to make all kinds of characters (either gender, various physical appearances, ect)

Usually the only consistent theme is that they are ALL generally Aggressive and Violent, as well as Respectful during Diplomacy (usually, sometimes they just manipulate people for power, and act with an Iron grip)

Honestly I don't see an issue with my heroes being men or women, as long as they do their jobs well I don't care! As to how the game is set up, I think it should not be an issue either but I don't program. It can't be that hard to make heroes of either sex or, should it arise both sexes at once! The question is will it change the way the game is played, I doubt it will, we all want to win! Hell an all female society and race could be an interesting way to go. I just hope the flexibility to play the game as such is thrown in!
