Army management screen [well detailed]

Maybe this [..an army management screen] is already on the dev's To-Do list, but maybe it isn't! So....I think that having a separate & well detailed army management screen is a must have feature in this game.

What should be displayed on this screen?

First of all, it must list all of the armies of the player of course. When you click on an army, all of the units in that given army should be displayed. Example:

*Army A:

          - Swordsmen 12          ---STATS---

          - Spearmen 10            ---STATS---

          - Knights 2                 ---STATS---

*Army B:

          - Ogres 2                  ---STATS---

* = If you click on this icon, the game will zoom on this army.

---STATS--- ::>

The various stats, like traits, special abilities, buffs, debuffs & equipments of the units should be displayed on this screen:

- Attack Rating

- Defense Rating

- Damage Type

- Range Value

- Combat Speed Modifier

- Special Abilities / Traits [Example: Fire resistance[natural]: 20% etc.]

- Experience

- Buffs & Debuffs

- Armors

- Weapon[s]

- Upkeep

To avoid confusion, I think it would be a good idea if clicking on an army tracked the map from your current map position towards the position of the army you clicked on. What I mean by this is to have the game slide the camera from one position to the other while you watch, to show you the path from where you are (i.e. what part of the map you last viewed), to where the army is located.

This way the player wouldn't be disorientated, and would always have their bearings.

For games on very large maps, it might be better to have the orientation/location info shown on the minimap or as a temporary overlay on the main map. If you've managed to place forces all over the world on a Ludicrous map, you could be talking about many, many tiles between your current camera focus and the army you select.

Re the general idea in the OP, I'd also very much like to see some rich list UI for regular unit management, and perhaps even a sibling for champions if it is possible to have tens of them in a large-map game. GC2 has a Colony Manager window, but global unit management is limited to the mini-list, which is not very user-friendly for large games with massive numbers of units.

I liked Sins of a Solar Empire's tech/empire tree they had going on in the upper left corner of that game.  I think that kind of thing would work nicely in most games.  It's a nice little way of keeping up with units and cities and whatnot on large maps.  I think it'd work great in Elemental... imho.

That sounds similar to the 'minilist' that you can show and hide on the left side of the main view in GC2. I'm hooked on the largest maps in that game, and I found the Ships tab in that list pretty much useless by mid-game on account of it being so small and low on info.

I'm not sure that Tormy feels the same way, but what I'm hoping to see is a companion to the Kingdom Report (Armies Report?) that is built to use my entire display so I can show detail with (sizable!) columns & can scroll less when I upgrade to a video card that can drive a larger desktop.

Indeed, I feel the same way. :)

Ugg please no Sins left side compiled army list.  Hated the clutter on my screen and honestly it really didn't impart enough info to justify the sheer amount of space. Granted for a real time it worked but in a turn based where we can take our time. A seperate page that we can open up would be better.
