Finally: It's good!

I'm not a WinCustomize guy, but I've visited the site a few times. I was always turned off by the primitive nature of the old site. It was ugly, outdated, and unintuitive. The new site (beta) is absolutely wonderful. I think it'll go a long way in attracting new users for several reasons:

  • Clean and simple (so important!)
  • Great header (useful mouseovers are always a plus)
  • Better organization of information (news, popular skins, etc.)

Bravo!

Hmmmm i AM a Wincustomize guy, and I totally disagree...... B[]

BoXXi's right, I'm afraid...I think you reversed the intuitive part reversed. The old Home page has everything layed out in one spot.

But, glad you're happy....so many of us aren't. :(

I like the new forum site but use the old wincustomize site instead of the new one, pretty much don't like it one bit.

And how much are you being paid to say that? XD

 I totally disagree as wellXD

Looking at the two sites side by side, the new site has a very confused layout.

And it still hasn't got what I would have liked - a download button on the gallery page. It would be really quick just to have a button to click instead of having to follow the skin link.

Ooh look, the site was functional once upon a time...

Personally I agree with Boxxi, the old site is fine, laid out great and easy to use. It just needs all the bugs and slowness fixed.  I will say however that the new site has merits in its own right, a bit faster and such, but you have to search for what you want a lot more.  Once you get used to it though I guess it's "OK".  I think the reason why people do not like the new site is because we are just not used to it.  If forced to use it (which I hear may be soon), I am sure we will become accustomed to it after awhile.

Much of the same things were said about the current WC when it was released as well.  The desire for the new site was to make it clean and simple to navigate, and I think it's much better.

There's a new site?!  :P

Everything goes forward or becomes extinct, even though I prefer the current site because of familiarity. I will eventually get used to the new one once the bugs are ironed out.

I'm not keen on the the new site at all, the fact that everything is stuck in menus, to item previews being bunched up real close together. There is nothing nice looking about it either. For a site thats about customization, themes etc you would think it would have a much better theme than the current very boring one.

I remember skinz.org before it was brown.

The exact same comments/complaints have surfaced at every site revision, both big AND small [revisions, not complaints]....;)

You can look on the bright side...at least the public/visible end of it all is getting updated/improved.....the admin end of it is just so cute and cuddly....just as ancient and disfunctional as ever....;)

The only thing I like about the new site is that I can come back to the old one...

....gonna be a bastard when that option's gone.

Except the DesktopX library is buried so deep a proctologist was called in and we haven't seen him since.....:-"

And you must run a search to find your own gallery.  o_O

I think what has been written here just defines what change is, it can be good or bad and either accepted or not.

What we will find though that at the end of the day change will occur, most folks just look at it and move knowing that tomorrow will bring more change. :sun:

Yes, and for much the same reason. With each version, WC has become more Microsoftized in appearence and less functional. Why is it more difficult to find stuff, and why are there extra clicks to get to a download button?

All I want is a simple way of downloading skins. I don't need something which resembles Bill Gates' backside.

That does not negate the valid comments/complaints/criticism that is being given though.

ie .. the new site sux - not a valid comment

ie .. the new site sux because ''blah blah blah blah" is a valid comment ( unless your name is Ke$ha of course )

There will be ways to get to your own gallery, we just haven't implemented them yet.

I'm more concerned with the ability of others to get to my gallery, being the download ho I be.   lol

Well...they got it party right. Honestly....all change aside...it is by no means simple to navigate by a long shot. On the current site I can reach just about everything I need to with one click. Whereas currrently on the new site I need several clicks and in some cases head a dead end. I really hope that gets fixed before the big move...if not I might as well just remove 3/4 of my stuff since no one will see any of it at which point I'm just wasting server space. So far I can't find my gallery and can only get to about 6 most recent skins.
