Looks like elemental does not support dual displays or at least dual displays as configured on my system.

after being accepted into another games beta . i was unable to choose resolution  in the games option.

so i decided it was time to simplfy my systems configuration  and i set it to a standard single display system .

low and behold i had resolution options.  so i decided to test and see if elemental worked again . and this time i was able to get the splash screen up .

it crashes soon after but at least i got to the spalsh screen and the nice lil warning of pain and suffering .

so what is wrong with a dual display systems ?

i have a windows 7 ultimate os with the  196.21 nvida drivers

running two displays in mirror mode at 1680x1050   the second dispaly is setup using a custom resolution  via the nvida control panel.

but obviosuly there is something being missed by the programming as this makes 2 games that gave issues with this setup.

all other games such as dirt 2 fallout 2 bad company 2 have not had a issue with it.

I am also running dual monitors, in Vista 64, and I can load the game but it comes up in windowed mode with no text, the mouse curser seems to be off center also.

I have a dual monitor setup with no issues in full screen or windowed mode.  I am running an ATI card though, so that might be a factor? I am also running Win 7 64.

I just re-read your post and see that you are mirroring your displays.  I have mine spanned.  Is there any difference if you try to run it in spanned mode?

Unable to run with dual monitors, desktop extended, enabled.  Using Windows 7 64 bit, Nvidia GTX 275 latest drivers.  Have to turn off a monitor before running.  Huge annoyance.

Well this will provide a intresting nugget of information .

After reading DragingRagon's post

i figured what the heck i will try the span mode (extend desktop  option)  just to see what happens.

and what do you know it worked .    game still crashes  at the intro screen with the panning background though .

went back to mirror (as this is how i watch movies from bed)  and still got the error message .

isnt software  wonderful ??

I use Win7x64 with an 8800GT and dual monitors myself and the game works fine, so it's not any issue native to that setup. Do you have any other apps running that may be monopolizing D3D?

195.62 with the stanadard windows extended desktop handling (neither mirrored nor using the nVidia span function which treats it as a single wide display).

back on this again ...   since i am seeing other games likes sin of a solar empire  men of war and legos universe act goofy when dual displays are enabled  .. Im going to ask for the programmers to make the game have an option to use the config file settings as gospel . and stop trying to pull the bogus information coming from windows or nvida . ( i have no idea what it is  although i expect edid to be the culprit  and possible nvidia custom resolution settings  either way its ridiculous)

because what i have seen is that something either  sdk based or driver based is not providing what ever programming routine,   the required  information.   causing games that rely on this  to think that  there is  no graphic card installed  or not providing the game resolutions to configure the game with.

hopefully it can be resolved by just forcing the game to trust the config file and to hell with what windows and or nvida is providing . because my system can do 1680 x 1050 @ 60hz  and this used to be all a game needed to know .

and it should still be all the game needs to know.
