Everytime I start a game, no matter what video settings I choose or game creation settings (soverein, empire, etc.) the world map is totally black exept special tiles and units or the screen is all white.

I fixed the black map by turning off the anti-aliasing, but the white screen still continues to randomly appear upon the creation of a new game
I just saw this too. It looks like the game is pulling in information from the last game you played. Look at the bottom portion of the screen. It should show information based on your last playthrough, like the number of cities you had and what you were researching when you ended the last game.
HELP!! I have the same issue and I am 0 for 10...haven't gotten a game in yet without the white screen...so sad I can't even help with the beta until I can play....
Can some one help me...i have adjusted or turn off all gtx to get something besides the white map load...HELP!!
FRom what I understand is that the white screen is produced because the game doesn't properly clear its memory, thus loading the last games data into a new game and producing a white screen. Try rebooting your computer, that usually works for me, if that doesn't find the save files on your pc and delete them.

Thanks dath...got my first game in..it was like having crack and no pipe to smoke it....thanks also Boogie...just a noob to Beta process...
I had a similar problem -- I won a game by conquest victory, returned to the main menu, then when I started up a new game I got the white map with all my city info from the last game at the bottom.
Problem fixed itself for me just by restarting elemental, I'll try to duplicate it and grab the .err file.
